Logline
A struggling photographer, Mahnoor, embarks on a journey of self-discovery through her
evolving relationship with a charismatic dancer, Akbar, and his mentor, Rani, uncovering the
transformative power of art and identity in modern day Lahore.
Iqra Rafiq is a Lahore-based film writer and director with a
master’s degree in filmmaking. Her work explores themes of
spirituality, feminist theory, mental health, and the male and
female gaze in Pakistani cinema. Rafiq’s diverse portfolio
includes short films, documentaries, and videos, with a focus
on social and psychological issues. Her films have earned
significant recognition, including selections at major
international film festivals and prestigious awards, such as the
Satyajit Ray Award for Best Short Film at the London Indian
Film Festival. In addition to her filmmaking career, Rafiq
teaches at Beaconhouse National University’s Department of
Theatre, Film & TV. She is currently developing new short film
projects, continuing her exploration of complex human
experiences and societal themes. Through her films and
academic work, Rafiq aims to amplify underrepresented
voices and contribute to meaningful global conversations.
